The People We Work With
Chiang Mai, the hub of Northern Thailand, is well known for its misty mountains, cool climate, seasoned travelers, but most of all as a Handicraft Shoppers paradise! You will find here true craftsmanship where products are made with creativity, passion and attention to the smallest detail.
We are delighted to offer our shoppers a beautiful range of products from a nice variety of local family businesses and entrepreneurs in Chiang Mai. We aim to support these tight knit communities and those craftsmen who produce the loveliest products in their often ‘hidden’ workshops. To introduce and promote their skill sets to a larger audience is what we strive for.
Since there is a big rise in environmental awareness we have also added some wonderful ‘green’ businesses that offer sustainable and organic products for you to enjoy.
Every month we will introduce one of our suppliers, and the innovative and creative minds behind them. This month’s partner: Khun Onampai Osiri from Moné.
Moné is a macro-sized aesthetics products company founded in 2017 by retired marketer Onampai Osiri. “One day I decided that it was time to form my own company. I had no idea what I wanted to do apart from wanting to do something environmentally sustainable, but I knew that I was going to do it right,” said Onampai.
She entered the programme to help build up carefully selected entrepreneurs through Chiang Mai University’s Science and Technology Park (STeP) and started setting up her own company shortly afterwards. She studied local herbs and their properties at Pitsanulok’s Naresuan University, cosmetics at Chiang Rai’s Mae Fah Luang University, and Halal research at Prince of Songkla university. It was when she studied soap making that she realised that she decided on Moné’s first product.
“I wanted to produce high quality soaps and other personal beauty care products which are not just good for the body, but also for the environment,” she explained. With the assistance of a geologist , who told her that he had produced a fine powder made from grinding special mineral-heavy rocks together, she turned the powder into a product: the world’s first rock soap!
“We want to produce high quality soaps and other personal beauty care products which are not just good for the body, but also for the environment.”
“With our clean and pollution-free production techniques we wish to provide everybody with healthy, environmentally friendly body care products.”
